Lakewood Automation hosts many different trainings and seminars
during the year. Below is 2012 schedule so far. If you would like to

Basic PLC
Programming Class
Wednesday March 7th and Thursday March 8th or
Wednesday September 5th and Thursday September 6th

The purpose of the Basic Omron PLC Training Course is to
introduce an individual to the basic concepts of a PLC
(Programmable Logic Controller) using a mixture of lectures and
hands on labs. This course is designed for the individual with
little or no prior PLC experience. The topics that are covered
in the basic PLC training course are as follows: A brief history
of the Omron PLC family, wiring to the PLC, the Omron I/O
addressing scheme, basic functions of an Omron PLC (SCAN), the
design, entering and debugging of a basic ladder logic program,
CX-Programmer programming software, on-line editing of timers,
counters, and data memories and basic trouble shooting
techniques. The hardware used in the class will be the Omron
CJ1M PLC.
A good understanding of the Windows operating system will be
assumed.
A Laptop computer with CX-Programmer V8.0 installed and a 9 pin
serial port or convertor is required. |

Advanced PLC
Programming Class
Wednesday May 30th and Thursday May 31st or
Wednesday November 28th and Thursday November 29th
9am till 4pm Eastern

The purpose of the Advanced Omron PLC Training Course is to
introduce an individual to the more advanced concepts of a PLC
using a mixture of lectures and hands on labs. This course is
designed for the individual who has taken the Basic PLC Training
Course and would now like to go on to more advanced concepts.
The topics that are covered in the Advanced PLC training course
are as follows: BCD, DEC, HEX and Binary conversions, PLC
instructions including MOV, ++B, --B, CMP, >, <, SFT, DIFU,
KEEP, SET, RSET, +B, -B, +BL, SCL and indirect addressing. The
hardware used in the class will be the Omron CJ1M PLC.
You must have attended the Basic PLC Training Course and have a good understanding of the Windows operating system
and the CX Programmer Software.
A Laptop computer with CX-Programmer V8.0 installed and a 9 pin
serial port or convertor is required. |

Function Block Class
Wednesday June 13th or
Wednesday December 12th 9am till 3pm Eastern $200 per person. See Billing and Cancellation Policy below. The purpose of the Omron Function Block Training Course is to
introduce an individual to the basic concepts of a Function
Block (FB) using a mixture of lectures, hands on labs, and
simulation software. This course is designed for the individual
with little or no prior FB programming experience. The topics
that are covered in the FB training course are as follows:
description of a function block, advantages of using a function
block, different component names within a function block, ladder
function blocks, structured text function blocks, and different
programming formats. You must have a good understanding of Omron's CX Programmer
software and the Windows operating system. A Laptop computer with CX-Programmer V8.0 installed and a 9 pin
serial port or convertor is required. |

GPProEx
Basics Class

The purpose of the GPProEx Basics class is to introduce an
individual to the Proface GPProEx operator interface software.
This hands on course is designed for those with little or no
prior experience with GPProEx. The topics covered are;
Pushbuttons, Lights, Text, Time Display, Graph Display,
Switches, Changing Screens, Message Displays, Data Displays and
Entries.
A good understanding of the Windows operating system will be
assumed.
A Laptop computer with GPProEx V2.6 installed is required. |

GPProEx
Intermediate Class

The purpose of the GPProEx Intermediate class is to expand upon
the topics covered in the GPProEx Basics Class. This hands on
class will cover the following topics: Alarms, Passwords,
Recipes, Sampling and Trending.
It is recommended to have attended the GPProEx Basics and a good understanding of the Windows operating system
will be assumed.
A Laptop computer with GPProEx V2.6 installed is required. |

ProServerEx Class
Wednesday April 18th, Wednesday July 25th or
Wednesday October 17th

The purpose of the ProServerEx class is to introduce an
individual to the Proface ProServerEx Data Management software.
This hands on class will cover the following topics: How does
ProServerEx Work, Configure Nodes, Symbols, Monitor Live Data,
Triggering Actions, DDE link to Excel and Creating an Excel
Report.
It is recommended to have attended the GPProEx Basics and
Intermediate Class and a good understanding of the Windows operating system
will be assumed.
A Laptop computer with GPProEx V2.6 and ProServer V1.23 installed is required.
Please also bring your own AGP Screen. |

GPProEx Logic Basics Class

The purpose of the GPProEx Logic Basics class is to introduce an
individual to the Proface GPProEx software when working with
internal logic and the Controller class of HMI. This hands on
course is designed for those with basic experience using the GPProEx
software.
The topics covered are; Internal ladder logic, Symbol Variables,
setting up and configuring I/O. Emphasis on how GPProEX software
allows for seamless flow between the HMI screen and the physical
I/O.
It is recommended to have attended the GPProEx Basics and a good understanding of the Windows operating system
will be assumed.

Variable Frequency Drive Classes

Yaskawa
V1000 Class
Wednesday May 16th,
Wednesday August 22nd or
Wednesday November 14th 9:00am till 4:00pm Eastern $200 per person. See Billing and Cancellation Policy below. The purpose of the V1000 Training Course is to introduce an
individual to the basic concepts of a Variable Frequency Drive
(VFD) using a mixture of lectures, hands on labs, and simulation
software. This course is designed for the individual with little
or no prior VFD experience. The topics that are covered in the
course are as follows: drive sizing based upon Horsepower of the
motor or Kilowatts of the motor, installation practices,
specifications of the VFD, electrical installation including
wiring, programming of the most common parameters,
troubleshooting, Drive Wizard Industrial software use (free download
from
Yaskawa's website), and sample application examples. A good understanding of the Windows operating system will be
assumed. A Laptop computer with Drive Wizard Industrial installed and a 9 pin
serial port or convertor is required. |

PPT Vision Impact Introduction Seminar

This seminar will provide you with some background information
on PPT Vision, introduce you to the A, C, T & M Series hardware
platforms and give you hands on experience with the most
commonly used tools available in the Impact Vision Program
Manager V10.0 software.
Bring your laptop and we will install the latest version of the
Impact software for you to use during the class and to take with
you for testing back in your office.
The afternoon is available for applications, so bring along your
parts and we would be happy to try them out under the camera. |

- Billing and Cancellation Policy
Lakewood Automation
reserves the right to cancel or change training dates and will
not be held liable for any expenses, loss of income, or
inconvenience caused.
All PLC classes will be
invoiced or cancelled 7 days before the class begins.
If you need to
cancel, it must be done before this date.
All No Charge classes will be billed $200 for a no
show or cancelling within 48 hours of the class. If you attend
the class there will be no charge.
Once invoiced the
class is not refundable.
