Sysmac Studio Operations PLC Class
The purpose of the Sysmac Studio Class is to introduce an individual to the basic concepts of Sysmac Studio, troubleshooting, and programming using a mixture of lectures and hands on labs. This course is designed for the individual with little Omron PLC programming experience.
The topics covered in the Sysmac Studio Operation PLC Class are:
- Different PLC models
- Hardware layout
- IEC Concepts
- Different types of variables
- Project management
- Screen/software layout
- Omron I/O tag based addressing scheme
- Online, offline, and synchronization
- Functions
- Function blocks
- Watch tabs
- Forced refreshing
- Online edits

- Entering & debugging of some simple ladder logic
The class will be structured towards software navigation & basic online functions with some simple logic being built upon throughout the entire class. The main objective of the class is to teach an individual to use the Sysmac Studio software.
The hardware used in the class will be the Omron NX1P2 PLC.
A Laptop computer with Sysmac Studio v1.64 or newer installed and an Ethernet Cross-Over cable is required.
You must have a good understanding of the Windows operating system. You must have administrator privileges to install software, drivers, and change the network card settings on your PC.
Sysmac Studio Programming Class
The purpose of the Sysmac Studio Programming course is to introduce an individual to the basic concepts of Sysmac Studio and programming using a mixture of lectures and hands on labs.
This course is designed for the individual with little Omron PLC programming experience.
The class will be structured towards learning how to program. We write a hypothetical PLC program together. Writing of some simple hypothetical PLC programs closes out the class. The main objective of the class is to teach the individual to write a PLC program.
The hardware used in the class will be the Omron NX1P2 PLC.
A laptop computer with Sysmac Studio v1.64 or newer installed and an Ethernet Cross-Over cable is required.
You must have a good understanding of the Windows operation system. You must have administrator privileges to install software, drivers, and change the network card settings on your PC.
Sysmac Studio HMI Operations
The purpose of the Sysmac Studio HMI Operations Class is to introduce an individual to the basic concepts of Sysmac Studio HMI programming using a mixture of lectures and hands on labs. This course is designed for the individual with little Omron HMI programming experience.
The topics covered in the Sysmac Studio HMI Operations Class are:
- Part numbers
- Hardware layout
- System menu
- Software tools
- Hardware configuration
- Software functionality
- Pages
- Text
- Buttons
- Lamps
- Numeric entry
- Numeric display
- Alarms
- Recipes
- Security
- Languages
The class will be structured towards software navigation & common programming objects. Most of the class is taught via Simulation (no hardware required). The main objective of the class is to teach an individual to use the software to build an HMI project with common items used across many projects.
The hardware used in the class will be the Omron NA5 HMI being used with Omron NX1P2 PLC.
A Laptop computer with Sysmac Studio v1.64 or newer installed and an Ethernet Cross-Over cable is required.
You must have a good understanding of the Windows operating system. You must have administrator privileges to install software and change the IP address on your PC.
Introductory PLC Class
The purpose of the Omron Introductory PLC Class is to introduce an individual to the basic concepts of Omron PLC using a mixture of lectures and hands on activities. This course is designed for the individual with no Omron PLC programming experience.
The topics covered in the Introductory PLC Class are:
- Different PLC models, various PLC hardware, wiring the PLC
- Different memory areas of the Omron PLC
- Omron I/O addressing scheme; basic functions of an Omron PLC (SCAN)
- Going online with the Omron PLC; commenting in the Omron PLC
- Uploading/downloading to the Omron PLC
- On-line editing of programs
- Searching in the Omron PLC
- Other useful software tools
The main objective of the class is to teach the individual to use the software as a tool.
This class is structured to an individual that has never used the software such as an introductory engineer or maintenance personnel.
The hardware used in the class will be the Omron CJ2M Series PLC.
A laptop computer with CX-Programmer v9.86 or newer installed and a USB cable is required.
You must have a good understanding of the Windows operating system. You must have administrator privileges to install software, drivers, and change the network card settings on your PC.
Intermediate PLC Class
The purpose of the Omron Intermediate PLC Class is to introduce an individual to the basic concepts of the Omron PLC using a mixture of lectures and hands on labs. This course is designed for those with some prior Omron PLC experience.
The topics covered in the Intermediate PLC Class are:
- Different PLC models, various PLC hardware, wiring the PLC
- Different memory areas of the Omron PLC
- Omron I/O addressing scheme
- Basic functions of an Omron PLC (SCAN)
- Simple instructions such as timers and counters
- Writing of some simple hypothetical PLC programs closes out the class
The main objective of the class is to teach the individual to write a PLC program.
The hardware used in the class will be the Omron CJ2M PLC.
A Laptop computer with CX-Programmer v9.86 or newer installed and a USB cable is required.
You must have a good understanding of the Windows operating system. You must have administrator privileges to install software, drivers, and change the network card settings on your PC.
Advanced PLC Class
The purpose of the Advanced PLC Class is to introduce an individual to the more advanced concepts of the Omron PLC using a mixture of lectures and hands on labs. You must have a good understanding of the CX-Programmer software.
The topics covered in the Advanced PLC Class are:
- BCD, DEC, HEX and Binary conversions
- PLC instructions including MOV, ++B, --B, CMP, >, <, SFT, DIFU, KEEP, SET, RSET, +B, -B, +BL, SCL
- Indirect addressing
- Writing of some simple hypothetical PLC programs closes out the class
The hardware used in the class will be the Omron CJ2M PLC.

You must have a good understanding of the Windows operating system. You must have administrator privileges to install software, drivers, and change the network card settings on your PC.
Function Block PLC Class
The purpose of the Omron Function Block Training Course is to introduce an individual to the basic concepts of a Function Block using a mixture of lectures and hands on labs. You must have a good understanding of the CX-Programmer software.
The topics covered in the Function Block Training Class are:
- Description of a function block
- Advantages of using a function block
- Different component names within a function block
- Ladder function blocks
- Structured text function blocks
- Different programming formats
- Writing some simple hypothetical function block closes out the class
This class is geared towards individuals that want to advance their programming needs with function blocks. The main objective of the class is to teach an individual to successfully create function blocks using ladder logic or structured text.
The hardware used in the class will be the Omron CJ2M PLC.A
Laptop computer with CX-Programmer V9.86 or newer installed and a USB cable is required.
You must have a good understanding of the Windows operating system. Also, you must have administrator privileges to install software, drivers, and change the IP address on your PC.

Billing and Cancellation Policy
Lakewood Automation reserves the right to cancel or change training dates and will not be held liable for any expenses, loss of income, or inconvenience caused.
All classes will be invoiced or cancelled 14 days before the class begins. If you need to cancel, it must be done before this date.
All No Charge classes will be billed $200 for a no show or cancelling within 48 hours of the class. If you attend the class there will be no charge.
Once invoiced the class is not refundable.
